'Good Samaritan' crossing causes crash
An accident occurred in on Hwy. 98 on Wednesday, Feb. 21 as a result of a "Good Samaritan" crossing. According to Gulf Breeze Police Department reports, Brian Meister of Gulf Breeze was in the turn lane attempting to enter the Harbourtown while traffic in the two eastbound lanes were stopped. However, as Meister traveled into the complex, he did not see Cory McNally of Pace traveling eastbound in the outside lane. McNally struck Miester's passenger side of the vehicle flipping it onto its side. The top driver side rear door landed on the driver's side of car at the stop sign at the Harbourtown exit. According to the police report, the estimated damage to Miester's car is $8,000 while McNally's is estimated at $5,000. Meister was charged with violation of right-of-way, and no one was injured.
