Public invited to learn about the Bible's 'bad girls'

A member of the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Community Life Center is calling those interested in studying "Bad Girls of the Bible," by Liz Curtis Higgs. The book discusses Eve, The "First Bad Girl" to Delilah and other bad to the bone girls as well as those like Rahab that were just bad for a season, but not forever.

The first meeting is Friday, March 2 at 10 a.m. at Christi Parisi's house. The address is 2728 Sherwood Dr. in Holley by the Sea. From then on, the group will meet every other Friday. To order the book, call 939-3206. The cost is $12. For information or directions, call Parisi at the same number.

Christian School auction scheduled for March 3

Escambia Christian School's third annual "Bid For Excellence" auction is March 3 at Gateway Church of Christ Family Life Center, 245 Brent Lane.

Proceeds from the auction will be used to purchase a new school bus. Cost is a $20 donation. Dinner begins at 6 p.m.; the auction begins at 7 p.m. Doors open for a preview at 5 p.m.

Irish music offered at St. Sylvester

All with a touch of the blarney and direct from the Emerald Isle, several performers will be appearing at St. Sylvester Catholic Church located at 6464 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf Breeze on Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m.. Barry Collins, Irish comic from Cork, Sandie Hartford Irish dancer from London, Michael Funge, singer/musician from Wexford, Bernard McHugh, singer/musician from Cavan and Harriet Earls, Celtic harpist from Wales will provide music, song, dance and comedy. This special presentation is available to the entire community and will be fun entertainment for all ages. Join in on the wearin' o' the green. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Knights of Columbus host fish fry Fridays

Everyone is invited to weekly Fish Fry 5-6:30 p.m. on all Fridays during Lent in Nickelsen Hall at St. Ann Gulf Breeze. The menu features fried mullet or catfish with "all the fixings." For children, an optional meal of grilled cheese sandwich and fries will be available. Cost is $6 per adult and $3 per child. All proceeds from the meal help support the Knights vocations programs. RSVP requested to 932-2859 by Wednesday prior each week to help get an accurate count. Proceeds benefit the Knights' support of Vocations.

Young adult retreat set for March 12

Celebrate! Young Adult Retreat. April 13-15, Our Lady of the Assumption Mission, 920 Via De Luna, Pensacola Beach. Cost is $65 per person plus hotel before March 12, $75 after March z12, and $85 at the door. Saturday lunch and dinner are included in this conference cost.
