Brown
Gulf Breeze High School student Sarah Brown, 16, was killed after a vehicle accident at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 on Bayou Blvd. near Windermere Drive in Pensacola. According to a Pensacola Police Department report, Brown, a sophomore, was a passenger in a 2002 Saturn driven by Brittney Still, 17 of Pensacola Beach. The Saturn was traveling eastbound on Bayou Boulevard when it veered off the road. The driver tried to get back on the road but overcompensated, forcing the car to slide sideways and across the roadway into oncoming traffic. The car was struck on the right side by a 1993 Lexus driven by John McMahon II, 21, and passenger Jackie Meyers, 20, both of Pensacola.

According to authorities, Still and Brown were not wearing seatbelts and both vehicles were traveling approximately the posted speed limit of 35 mph upon impact. All four passengers of the two vehicles were taken to Sacred Heart Hospital for treatment.

An investigation into the crash continues, and no charges have been filed. Brown was an organ donor and as of Monday, Feb. 19, a 10-year-old boy in need of a heart donation was located and is expected to receive Brown's heart.

Brown is the daughter of Kristen Sanders of Gulf Breeze and Brad Brown of Orange Beach, Ala. Rose Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
