Randel takes fourth at state
Randel's fourth-place finish is the best in school history, as well as the first ever medal in the sport. "Adrienne just had a fantastic day," coach Randy Aydelott said. "She was just going to do whatever it took to get a medal." Randel, a senior in her third state meet, bench pressed 145 pounds and cleaned 155 pounds to finish with 300 pounds. Randel finished in a tie for third with Interlachen's Kaleigh Tibbs, but Tibbs won the tiebreaker on lower body weight. Farah Schmitt finished five pounds out of a tie for 10th place, finishing in 13th place with 260 pounds lifted. She bench pressed 135 pounds, eighth best in her weight class, but only bench pressed 125 pounds. It marked the first year in school history GBHS had multiple participants at the state meet. |
