On the Spot:
In honor of President's Day (Feb. 19), who was our greatest president?
By Franklin Hayes

"For two very different reasons I'd say Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. Both have been paramount in the Middle East peace process. Although Clinton was not that good pertaining to the budget, Clinton did have the foresight to see that in order for things to be harmonious we do coexist with the rest of the world. " -Sulema Abdulky Gulf Breeze
"Ronald Reagan. He was responsible for ending the Cold War. He brought us out of the recession, the one caused by Jimmy Carter. [Carter] was probably one of the worst we've had." -Beverly Whatley Destin
"I'd have to go with one of the favorites like Washington or Lincoln. Out of the two I'd probably say Lincoln. The man was down to Earth and in touch with the people of the country. He used a lot of common sense." -Larry English Gulf Breeze
"I guess Reagan. His personality seemed to lead people. The bulk of the country got behind him. You didn't hear a lot of the bickering back then like you do now." -Steve Herron Gulf Breeze
