REDDICK

Bess Evelyn (Dunlap) Reddick passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2007 in a local nursing home.

Bess was born August 1, 1923 in Amory, MS. She is the daughter of Edgar Brown Dunlap and Grace (Moss) Dunlap, both of Amory, MS. Bess had one brother, Robert Brown Dunlap who died in 1980. Preceding her in death was her husband of 30 years, Charlie Gilman Reddick of Chipley, FL.

Surviving are children, Edgar E. (Gene) Reddick of Pensacola Beach, FL, Charles Earl Reddick of Jacksonville and Robert E. (Bob) Reddick of Gulf Breeze, FL. Bess has seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Four live in Florida, one in Lancaster, PA, one in Oxford, MS and one in Carlsbad, CA.

Bess moved to Pensacola in 1944 where she met and married Charlie Gilman Reddick, Jr. in 1946. They lived in Pensacola until they moved to Jacksonville, FLin 1970, following a promotion for him with Southern Bell Telephone Company. After her husband died in 1976, she moved back to Pensacola, FL, which she always considered home. Bess devoted her life to raising her children and caring for her devoted husband. She was a great southern cook and an avid bird watcher. Although the last few years she was confined to her home and living care centers, she was an active member of First Baptist Church until the very end.

Visitation was held at FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 100 Beverly Pkwy from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 8. There was a private graveside service on Friday. he family requests that donations be made to Covenant Hospice.
