Top-ranked Lady Cats too much for GB
Young squad finishes 3-21

The Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin basketball team committed 30 turnovers in a 58-14 loss to unbeaten and top-ranked Washington in a District 1-4A Tournament Quarterfinal game Jan. 30 in Gulf Breeze.

The Lady Cats (28-0) jumped out to an 18-2 first quarter lead and led 41-7 at the half. They outscored Gulf Breeze 12-4 in the second quarter.

Danielle Butler, Tobie Bass, Deannette Zuniga, Jordan Smith and Natalie Alverson all scored two points, as did Whitney Harris, who hit a 15-footer with 45 seconds left to round out the scoring. Jamie Beeler added a free throw in the loss and grabbed a team-high four rebounds. She also had two steals.

The Lady Dolphins, who started either five sophomores or four sophomores and a freshman most of the season in the state's toughest district, finished the season 3-21.
