Agencies, students honored at 2007 ADDY's

Robyn Philips/Gulf Breeze News George Johnson and Kara Szostek of GReNDeL.FLY picked up an ADDY for Judges Award for Art Direction.
Winners of the Pensacola Bay Area Advertising Federation's (PBAAF) 2007 ADDY® competition were announced Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Hilton Garden Inn on Pensacola Beach during a Casablanca-themed gala. More than 175 local advertising and media professionals attended the event where over 20 agencies and students were honored with ADDY® awards for their creativity and originality. The annual ADDY® awards are the industry's largest and most competitive contest for creative excellence.

An independent panel of three industry professionals from outside the area judged more than 225 entries submitted earlier this year. Of these entries, judges awarded 24 Gold, 44 Silver, and 9 Bronze ADDYs® to professionals for their outstanding work. In addition, judges distributed 7 Gold and 15 Silver ADDY® awards to students. Top awards of the evening were presented as Best of Show, Judges Award, and Mosaic Award and went to the following agencies and students:

Entries were judged based on creativity, originality and strategy. Winners of Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards include AKABAKA, All Pro Sound, Appleyard Agency, Baptist Health Care, Baybridge Idea Group, BPM, Cat Country 98.7, Coco Design, Council on Aging of West Florida, Emagination Unlimited, Inc., Emerald Coast Filmworks, E.W. Bullock Associates, Grendelfly, Hansen Davis, Ideaworks, idgroup, Spruill- Shaw Creative, University of West Florida, and WSRE. A $500 scholarship was awarded to Monique Maloney for Student Best of Show, and Jessica Bowie and Kristoffer Poore received a $250 scholarship each for Student Judges Awards.

The local ADDY® Awards is the first step in a three-tiered national advertising competition conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF). Winners of Gold ADDY® Awards at the local level automatically proceed to the district competition. Winners of Gold ADDY® Awards at the district level move on to nationals. The annual ADDY® Awards is the industry's largest and most representative competition for creative excellence, honoring professionals and students alike. Proceeds from the ADDY® Awards gala help support PBAAF's educational programs, public service projects and proactive government relations efforts.
