I hate to revisit old columns, but I just can't get over it. I have expressed my thoughts on this a few times, but as I continue to talk about it in my travels and shows it just sticks in my throat even more.

People are bewildered, confused and some downright angry over the National Anthem being sung in Spanish.

What is this "in your face" "we don't care," "get used to us" protest about anyway? Why did you come here in the first place, to stuff your nationality in our faces and change the country to something that won't be what you came here for in the first place?

Don't you see that you are destroying the thing you want most from America? We never had to sing it in French, Italian, Vietnamese, African, German, Irish, Greek, Scandinavian, Portuguese, Canadian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Icelandic, or even for God's Sake, Arabic!

Please don't throw this old thing about me hating immigration, at me. I love immigrants that come here for the right reasons, and don't expect me to give birth to their babies, take all the prizes for being the "first baby of the new year" and never pay the bill at the hospital.

I love people that come here for the right reasons, like the Viet Nam refugees that came here years ago. At first we were shocked by some of their customs. They did not understand fishing regulations and "conservation," but they learned, worked hard, had weekend classes for their children to catch them up on the language, and they became Valedictorians and Salutatorians at our high schools, opened restaurants, blended into the community and not once did I ever see them at a protest rally waving the Viet Nam Flag and embarrassing us by expecting us to sing the Anthem in Vietnamese. Not once! Today they are a respected part of our Bay Area and are "Americans."

Don't expect us to hand over our lifetime Social Security earnings to you, just because you caught a bus here and "do jobs that other Americans don't want to do", which is the biggest lie ever told the American people. Unfortunately, some of us believe it!

Don't expect us to be what you are, you came here to this country to be what WE are. If you don't feel that way, Cuba is just a short trip for you and they speak Spanish there. See if you like living there, under that system that has proven to be the worst in the Western Hemisphere.

Please, get a job, learn the language, pay your taxes, all of them, state, federal, city, county, sales and even the Bob Sikes Bridge Toll, get a sponsor, and don't expect one single American citizen, no matter what color they are or what country they came from to sing their National Anthem in Spanish just to make you feel good.

Don't try to embarrass us at your rallies with your flag flying over ours, and try to be a bit more thankful that you got into this country in the first place.

Never think that just because there are 11 million of you here now that you are due more than others that came for the same reasons you did. There is no "safety" in those numbers, I assure you.

I am part of the American that is being offended by this. Just thought you'd like to know...
