The Gulf Breeze High's Jr. ROTC has once again been designated a "Distinguished Unit" and thereby authorized to nominate five of their seniors to the US Air Force Academy and three each to West Point and the US Naval Academy.

In addition, we have high hopes of at least two of our seniors receiving College ROTC Scholarships.

Their seventth period Drill and Ceremonies Class planned, coordinated and hosted the annual Dolphin Invitational Drill Meet again in October which involved 17 High School JROTC Units from this area competing for trophies.

This meet was a huge success as GBHS received numerous compliments from visiting cadets and instructors.

In November, GBHS' drill team and color guard competed at the Hurlburt Field Drill Meet, and we brought home four trophies.

GBHS cadets have been will be involved with Caring and Sharing, the Ronald McDonald House and at Loaves and Fishes.

Our cadets also have registered to compete in two drill meets in February as well as the UWF Army ROTC Orienteering Meet.

Other activities coming up include our Annual Dining-Out, our Military Ball, and the Annual Awards Ceremony where numerous representatives of local civic and patriotic organizations present medals, ribbons, and scholarship grants to our top cadets.

"The experience our cadets receive in planning and organizing these activities is part of the valuable education that will help them succeed as adults, and will make them better citizens as well," Lt. Col. Keith Wise said.
