Santa Rosa looking for groups to 'step up'

The Santa Rosa County Health Department (SRCHD) along with the Florida Department of Health will be involved in the statewide healthy living event, "Step Up, Florida!™", which will begin its fourth year this February. Each county in Florida will promote healthy living by encouraging citizens to "step up" and get moving. This year's theme for Santa Rosa County is "How Many Pounds of Fat Can Santa Rosa Burn in One Day?" which will be celebrated on February 27.

The Health Department is inviting business to support their employees by promoting exercise before, during or after work on February 27th, log their employees' exercise such as walking, biking or jogging and then report the results to the Health Department by the end of the week. The results will be publicized shortly thereafter.

This year, the Health Department along with 4-H, NAS Whiting Field, and other community partners will assist by lending a hand with activities throughout the county. SRCHD is searching for businesses, groups and organizations to join the fun.

If a business, group or organization wishes to participate in the Step Up, Florida event, interested persons are encouraged to contact Ginny Hinton or Jennifer Terry at (850) 983-5200 or email at Jennifer_Terry@doh.state. fl.us.
