Dolphins win at West Tech, snap five game losing streak

Bryan Shreve scored 11 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter as the Dolphins beat West Florida 63-59 on Jan. 16, snapping a five-game losing streak.

Brandon Creager's only two points of the game, free throws with 20 seconds left, sealed the win.

Matt Patrick led the Dolphins (5-16) with 16 points. Alec Cann added eight, while Jeff White had seven, David Hibberts and Eric Mims four each, Marcus Smith three and Blake Rankin and Dane Baker two each.

Creager also had five steals and five assists in the win. Dustin Clements had four rebounds. Hibberts led the team with seven boards.

Navarre 60, Dolphins 45

The Raiders went on a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Dolphins Friday in Navarre.

Patrick led the Dolphins with nine points and six rebounds. Shreve and Franklin had eight points, Hibberts six points, five rebounds and four assists, Mims and Cann four each. Matt Catellier three, Smith two and Creager and White one each.

Gulf Breeze turned the ball over 18 times in the loss.

Catholic 76, Dolphins 56

The Crusaders (13-6), who shot 40 percent from the field in the first quarter, were 51 percent from the floor over the final three quarters to pull away from the Dolphins.

Cann, who had seven points, grabbed a rebound and scored for a 6-5 GBHS lead. But Catholic would answer with a bucket of their own - the first of seven lead changes in the opening quarter.

Kyle Sarra, who had 10 points for the Crusaders, hit a three- pointer in the final minute to make it 16-14 Catholic. It was a lead they wouldn't relinquish as they led 19-14 after one.

The Crusaders went on a 7-2 run to open the second quarter to go up 10 points. The Dolphins would get no closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Patrick led Gulf Breeze with 13 points on 4-for-6 shooting. Franklin added nine points, while Mims and Derek Orban had six each, Hibberts and Shreve four each, Dustin Clements and White three each and Rankin one.

Hibberts had 11 rebounds and three steals.

Catholic JV 57,

Dolphins 39

The Dolphins ended Saturday's game with only three players due to fouls.

Kyle Schnackenberg had 11 points, while Marco Joseph and Luke Crooke had eight each.

Navarre JV 46,

Dolphins 31

Schnackenberg had 11 points and Colin Kupris 10 in a loss to Navarre Friday.

Dolphin JV 44,

West Florida Tech 32

Kupris and Schnackenberg had 10 each to lead Gulf Breeze to a win Jan. 16. Dolphin ninth grade 41,

Navarre 37

Bodovetz had 14 points, while Thomas Dorsey had eight points and Schmacher seven. Dolphin ninth grade 51,

Catholic 45

Joey Bodovetz had 17 points, while Nicky Schumacher had 10 in a win Saturday.

The Dolphins will host Escambia Friday in their final district game of the season. They'll host the Crusaders Feb. 2, which is also Senior Night.
