School Briefs Holly Almony and Lydia Peters of Gulf Breeze made the Dean's List for the fall semester at the University of Mobile. In order to make the Dean's List, a student must maintain a 3.5 grade point average while taking at least 12 semester hours. Manfredi makes Albion College Dean's List Dane Manfredi has been named to the Albion College dean's list for the fall 2006 semester. Students named to the Dean's List must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or above at the completion of the semester. This GPA must be based on at least three units in graded courses and a minimum of four units completed. Dane is a first-year at Albion College. The son of Paul Manfredi and Diana Manfredi, Dane is a 2006 graduate of Gulf Breeze High School. Butcher named to fall semester UM Honor Roll Spencer Butcher, a Gulf Breeze resident and 2006 Catholic High graduate, made the Chancellors Honor Roll at the University of Mississippi for the fall 2006 semester. A grade point average of from 3.75 through 4.0 is required of full-time students carrying at least 12 semester hours for listing on the Chancellors Honor Roll. Donate Bruno's green receipts for GBHS Science Olympiad The GB HS Science Olympiad Team is asking for Bruno's shoppers to save their green receipts and to place them in the collection bin at GBHS Student Services. The Science Olympiad team is working hard for their competition in Orlando. They will travel and compete on March 24 at Olympia High school. Team Members include: Senior Will Dirschka, Juniors Kelsey Campbell, Jake Connor, Kyle Finelli, Lauren Musick, Logan Rejda, Meagan Schaeffner, Jon Villanueva and Clayton Walden; Sophomores Collin Burke, Daniel Hatcher, Ryan Henderson, Ryan Kent, and Tiffany Sharar. Alternates are Rachel Harvey and Alex York. Scoop's Reading Challenge coming soon Are you ready to step up to the plate? "Scoop's Reading Challenge" registration has begun. This popular reading program, brought to you be the Pelicans and WSRE, PBS for the Gulf Coast, offers a fun and unique way for students to broaden their literary horizons. The Challenge is free to all K-5 schools in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties and is easily adaptable for any grade level. Friday is deadline for GBHS Yearbook purchases The final day to purchase Gulf Breeze High's award winning yearbook is Friday, January 26. The cost is $75 and can be purchased from any staff member or for the first time can be purchased online by using a credit card and accessing www.yearbooksonsale.com. PJC High School Senior Day Feb. 9 Pensacola Junior College is hosting "Career Day for High School Seniors" Friday, Feb. 9, for Escambia and Santa Rosa County students. From 8:30 a.m. to noon on the Pensacola campus, about 500 high school seniors enrolled in career and technical education programs are provided a one-stop tour of PJC career programs designed to prep students for high-tech, high-demand jobs of the 21stcentury economy. In addition to learning about admissions, testing requirements, financial aid and support services, the visiting students tour selected PJC programs, talk to instructors and learn how they can participate in PJC athletic programs and student organizations.
