Savvy parents bond with their families

When you build a good relationship with your child at a young age, it will be easier for them to come to you when they have problems as they grow older. Children who have parents who spend time with them are less likely to become involved with alcohol, other drugs and violence. Savvy Parents know their kids. Get into the habit of talking to your child everyday and find out what is going on in their lives. Most importantly - listen to them. You are the most powerful influence in your child's daily life!

The Savvy Parent Series, developed by CDAC to provide access to the latest information and research, is a communitybased effort to educate parents on effective ways to keep youths away from alcohol, drugs and violence. Each month discussions will be held in Santa Rosa and Escambia Counties that will focus on different topics that are relevant to our community. Featured guest speakers will be present from various community programs and organizations. The Community Drug and Alcohol Council, Inc. (CDAC) will present their monthly Savvy Parent Series for Santa Rosa County on January 30 at 6:30 p.m. The forum will be held at Pace High School which is located at 4065 Norris Rd., Pace, Florida. January's Savvy Parent Series topic is "Resolution Month - Family Bonding." Parents who come out to the event have the chance to win free admission to sporting events such as the Pensacola Ice Pilots, Pensacola Pelicans and other great door prizes.

Savvy Parent information is available on the CDAC website (www.cdac.info) and in the monthly Savvy Parent brochures that can be found in local doctor's and dentist's offices, grocery stores, and other businesses that have partnered with CDAC. For more information on attending a meeting, partnering with the Savvy Parent Series or receiving informational materials contact CDAC at (850) 434-2724.
