Eight Lady Dolphin lifters qualify for sectionals

The Gulf Breeze girls weightlifting team will send eight lifters to Wednesday's sectional meet as a result of their efforts at last week's district meet at Pace.

Lifters from Gulf Breeze, Navarre, Milton and Pace tried to finish in the top three in their weight classes to qualify for the sectionals in Fort Walton.

Farah Schmitt and Adrienne Randel both won district championships - Schmitt lifted a total of 265 pounds (130 lbs. in bench press, 135 in clean and jerk), while Randel lifted 270 pounds (135/135).

Lauren Ladd (110/100 - 210), Brittany Wheeler (110/125 - 235) and Ashley Thibodeaux (105/115 - 220) all took home second places, while Katelind Markey (105/90 - 195), Ann Marie Chilton (105/115 - 220) and Sharlissa Truett (110/105 - 215) all finished third.

Other GBHS competitors included: Ashley Mayfield (80/85 - 165), Katie Jo Crawford (85/95 - 180), Catherine Lewis (100/100 - 200), Kristen Argus (90/95 - 185) and Jenny Holder (95/100 - 195).
