The Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin soccer team will enter this week's District 1-4A Tournament off a 3-1 win at Catholic Thursday.

Gulf Breeze (17-4-3) is the top seed in the nine-team tournament this year, which is at Dolphin Stadium. The Lady Dolphins will face Wednesday's Navarre-West Florida Tech winner in a semifinal match at 8 p.m. tonight.

The first semifinal will be against most likely secondseeded Washington and Wednesday's PHS-Escambia winner. GBHS (7-0-1) and Washington (6-0-2) were the only two teams unbeaten in seeded district play during the regular season. The final is at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Gulf Breeze scored once right before the half and added two more within a two minute span early in the second half to win at Catholic Thursday.

The Lady Dolphins had near misses by Aubrey Curington, Kristen Barona, Bianca Takacs and Maggie Rodgers before Takacs scored the game's first goal in the 38th minute. Rodgers had the assist on the goal and almost had one of her own before the half, but the header hit the crossbar.

Kim Begley and Noelle Robles rounded out GBHS' scoring in the 47th and 48th minutes, respectively. Kristi Lee set up both goals.

Catholic spoiled the shutout bid in the 76th minute on a long shot that squirted out of the hands of Kathy Franklin.

Franklin made a pair of diving saves in the final two minutes that prevented the Lady Crusaders from pulling to within a goal.
