Lady Dolphin weightlifting team loses to Milton

Jason Thompson/Gulf Breeze News Lauren Ladd spots for Farah Schmitt during a recent meet. Both won their weight classes last week in a dual meet in Milton.

The Gulf Breeze girls weightlifting team entered Wednesday's district meet off a 55-33 loss at Milton.

Katelind Markey, Lauren Ladd, Farah Schmitt and Sharlissa Truett all won their weight classes. The Lady Dolphins lifters by place is as follows:

First place - Markey (bench press 95 lbs., clean and jerk 95 lbs. - 190), Ladd (105/100 - 205), Schmitt (120/140 - 260), Truett (105/105 - 210).

Second place - Brittany Wheeler (110/120 - 230), Ann-Marie Chilton (105/110 - 215), Ashley Thibodeaux (100/110 - 210).

Third place - Megan Thompson (60/55 - 115), Ashley Mayfield (65/85 - 150), Katie Jo Crawford (75/90 - 165), Catherine Lewis (105/95 - 200).

Wednesday's district meet was in Pace, with qualifiers heading to Fort Walton for the sectional meet Jan. 24.
