Local pediatricians voted the best

Two Gulf Breeze Pediatricians, Dr. Randy Reese and Dr. Tom Riney were both recently voted two of the Top Three "Best Pediatricians" in the Gulf Coast area. Dr. Reese's practice is in Gulf Breeze at Pensacola Pediatrics on Country Club Road. Dr. Riney is a resident of Gulf Breeze and practices at The Wolff Center on Airport Blvd. in Pensacola. Dr. Riney is also the Chairman of the Pediatric

Department at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Gulf Isle Neighbors

Gulf Coast Friends

Gulf Coast Friends will have their luncheon and meeting Thursday, January 11 at New World Landing. Doors open at 11 a.m., lunch starts at noon. Reservations are required. Cindy Sarver from the Santa Rosa Sheriff's office will be the featured speaker. She will give a brief listing of services offered by the Crime Prevention Unit as well as an overview of identity theft and some current scams in the area. The Gulf Breeze Area Historical Society, Inc

The Gulf Breeze Area Historical Society, Inc. is pleased to announce the Societies programs that are scheduled for 2007. On Tuesday January16, Dr. Randall Broxton will be the speaker. He will be speaking on the subject, "Triumphs and Tragedies of Families in History." Dr. Broxton is a professor of history at Pensacola Junior College. He was recently appointed to the society's Board of Directors.

On Saturday, February10, Tricia Briska arranged a tour of the old Sacred Heart Hospital. The tour will be conducted by Mr. Alan Vincent Ritz who spoke about the history of the hospital at the October meeting. The group will meet at Bruno's parking lot at 10 a.m. to carpool. Lunch will be at Madison's in the hospital.

Tuesday March 20, Mrs. Amy Stevenson will be the speaker. She will talk about her new book entitled "The Cole Family Civil War Letters." Mrs. Stevenson has a collection of Civil War letters.

Riney
Tuesday April 17, they will tour of the lighthouse at Pensacola NAS. Again the group will meet at Bruno's parking lot at 10 a.m. to carpool. Lunch will follow in the Cubi Bar at the museum. Group rates for those wishing to attend a movie presentation can be arranged, and/or a guided tour. Arrange your car pool accordingly.

Tuesday May 15, the annual election of officers is scheduled. Mrs. Ann Brodie will be the speaker. Ann is the Societies historian and has a wealth of knowledge about the early days of Gulf Breeze.

Unless otherwise noted, all Historical Society meetings are held at the Gulf Breeze Library on Shoreline Drive at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month, except June, July and August. Visitors are always welcome and no reservation is necessary.

Please contact Board President Gordon Sprague at 916-9136 or 916-0220 if you require additional information. The society's annual dues are $10 and the group welcomes all persons interested in the history of this area.

Pensacola Camellia Club

The Pensacola Camellia Club presents a membership meeting on Tuesday January 16 at 7 p.m. at the Garden Center, 1850 N. 9th Avenue. The event is free and interested public is cordially invited. Light refreshments will be served.

The next Camellia Club meeting will be Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. at the 9th Ave. Garden Center.
The regular third-Tuesday meeting of the Pensacola Camellia Club will meet on January 16 at 7 p.m. at the Garden Center, 1850 N. 9th Avenue. The program will be presented by Dr. Bill Bennett, host of the TV Show "Garden Magic," is entitled "Will There Ever Be a Blue Camellia?" Dr. Bennett, a horticulturalist with academic connections to UWF and PJC, will discuss the genetics of camellias which control their form, size, color and blooming characteristics.

Cinny O'Donnell, club president, said, "We invite the interested public to attend our meetings. If you have camellia blooms which are unidentified, please bring them along to the meeting. Our camellia enthusiasts will try to help you identify them. We have permanent metal tags for sale so that you can mark your plants. There is plenty of free parking on either side of the building."

The Pensacola Camellia Club has been recently honored by the American Camellia Society for its increase in membership over the last year. It enlisted eighty new members in 2006.

Judge Roger Vinson of the Camellia Club has been elected Secretary of the American Camellia Society for the year 2007.

Greater Navarre Beach Arts Association

Art Lessons will be sponsored

by Greater Navarre Beach Arts Association (GNBAA) beginning January 8 as part of its mission. Various members will be teaching. Registration, costs and more information is available on the group's website: www.gnbaa.org.

Each class session will be 10 to 12 weeks long with 10 to12 students per class. If there is more demand for a class, they will try to schedule a second session of that class.

Each class is $10 per hour, meaning $15 or $20 per week based on class s e l e c t e d . Students are encouraged to sign up for entire class session. All classes will be held in the group's Arts Shack location, the building just north of the intersection of Hwy. 87 and East Bay Blvd. and County Road 399. Formal registration will be January 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The line up of classes beginning in January, include Mondays, "Beginning Acting," taught by Stacey J. Albaugh for middle schoolers. Each class is One and a half to two hours.

Monday evenings," Water Color for Adults," taught by Dennis Boyce, 7 - 9 p.m.

Tuesdays, from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m., One-hour art/craft classes for children 12 and older taught by Jana Chappell. In just one hour a complete lesson will be learned and each child leaves with a completed project.

Tuesday evenings, 7 - 9 p.m., "Acting for Adults", taught by Will Lake.

Wednesdays, two classes in air-brushing techniques and art methods taught by Deborah and John Branning; 3- 5 pm, "Air Brush for Middle Schoolers" (age 12 and older); 7 - 9 pm, "Air Brush Art for Adults."

Thursdays, "Pen and Pencil Drawing" for all ages (12 and up) from 3-5 p.m. taught by Alice Garcia.
