GBHS grad eyes Naval Academy
      A recent Gulf Breeze High School graduate got an early Christmas present this year - a congressional nomination for the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) in Annapolis, Md. Patrick King, who is currently attending the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, R.I., is one of 47 students being nominated for the U.S. Military Academies by U.S. Senator Mel Martinez.

City rescue craft capsizes
     The Gulf Breeze Fire Department Rescue boat was responding to a marine emergency Saturday night when it was capsized by rough weather. The boat was towed out of the Wayside Park boat launch, above, after firemen on board swam it to the launch. Fire Chief Shane Carmichael said there were no injuries to the five volunteers on board.

Trees for Gulf Breeze
     The city's parks department received a grant from the Florida Division of Forestry and planted trees throughout the city limits. Contractors with B&C Nursery planted 114 crepe myrtles, 51 ligustrums and five red maples.
