The results are in from the 2007 Florida Senior Games State Championships, and one Gulf Breeze couple brought home five medals. Drake and Beverly Shepard both competed in the games, held in Cape Coral over the course of Dec. 1- 9. Drake won the gold in the 5K run, while earning silver medals in both the 800 and 1,500 meter runs. More ... Naval aviator, astronaut and former local resident Cmdr. Alan Poindexter will have to wait just a little longer until his lifelong dream comes true. Poindexter is the pilot for NASA's STS-122/1E mission, which was delayed from its original launch date of Dec. 6. A new date was tentatively scheduled for Jan. 10. More ... Glen Kildare, a lifeguard at HBTS pools, helped escort Santa, who was brought to the recreation center on a Holley- Navarre Fire District truck. More ... The Santa Rosa Shores Women's Club (SRSWC) and the Santa Rosa Shores Homeowners' Association (SRSHA) sponsor what is becoming a great annual event for the community known as Santa Claus in Swenson Park.
