Navarre Cancun's to remain open
      Cancun's restaurant in Navarre is open after closing temporarily Dec. 3 and 4. Michaela Thurma says she has been the owner of that restaurant for the past three years and does not plan to close unless someone in the official investigation tells her she has to close, which they have not done.

Construction begins
     Construction work began Monday, Dec. 10 to expand the Gulf Breeze Elementary School cafeteria. The new cafeteria will cost approximately $3.3 million to construct and will include a music suite, kitchen, cafeteria seating and two ESE rooms.

      Santa Rosa County School District's janitorial service is actively trying to head off any MRSA staph infections before they happen. That was the thrust of the report from Southern Management, the company the district contracts to handle all its janitorial and repair and maintenance services.

Female sable antelope dies at zoo
      "Maggie," a female sable antelope at The Zoo of Northwest Florida was found dead in her exhibit on the morning of Nov. 24. She died due to difficulty giving birth, zoo officials said. The 16 year-old antelope was born on May 27, 1991 and was featured on Animal Planet in 2004. The average life-span of an antelope in captivity is 18 years.
