      Dolphin Winter Baseball Camp Nov. 18-19 The Gulf Breeze Dolphin baseball program will hold its annual winter camp Nov. 18-19 from 8:30 a.m.-noon at the GBHS Baseball Field. Cross country teams state-bound again
      For the second straight year, the Gulf Breeze cross country program will need a big bus to get to state, as both teams qualified with top five finishes Saturday in Tallahassee. "I was real pleased on how both teams did," said girls coach Tom Aldridge, whose team took fourth.

Lady Dolphin soccer team pulls away to beat Navarre
      Gulf Breeze pulled away from a fiesty Navarre squad with three goals in a four minute span midway through the second half to win 5-1 at Navarre Nov. 5. A rivalry for most, the game was a matchup of friends and teammates for some.

      St. Andrews Presbyterian College sophomore Jamie Hayes (GBHS c/o '06) was recently selected to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All District volleyball team, sponsored by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Short-handed Lady Dolphins win tourney
GBHS opens season tonight Pace at 6:30 p.
      The Gulf Breeze girls basketball team, playing without two of their starters and one of their key reserves, won a preseason tournament Saturday at West Florida High. The Lady Dolphins, without Deannette Zuniga, Jamie Beeler and Christine Hay due to injury or illness, defeated Tate 47-38 on Thursday and West Florida 45-19 on Saturday.

Dolphin wrestlers win preseason tourney
      The Gulf Breeze High wrestling team opened the 2007 season Saturday with a pair of wins at a preseason meet at South Walton High School. The Dolphins beat South Walton 51- 24 and Wewahitchka 42-29. Tanner Eagley won both of his matches, the only one to do so (Several others went 2-0, which included a forfeit win).

Second year coach has four returning starters
      Coach David McGreal is giving his kids a 'word of the day' to get his players ready for the upcoming season. Words like drive, discipline, heart, desire, dedication and fight are a few examples. He's hoping the players will take those words and turn them into more of another word - wins.

Dolphin soccer post clean slates
Six matches, six shutouts for JV, varsity teams
      The Dolphin soccer program has gotten off to a stingy start to open the 2007 season, not allowing a single goal in 448 minutes of action last week. Dolphins 1,Washington 0 Brad Parrish's header in the 50th minute was the difference as Gulf Breeze won its season opener Nov. 6 at Washington.

Kickin' for College winner
     Danny Gibble was the winner of a $1,000 scholarship Friday. Gibble was drawn as the winning ticket, then kicked a 30-yard field goal to win.The promotion was put on by Remax on the Coast and the Gulf Breeze News. Sherlyn Waghalter (center) presented the check as (from left) Cheryl Bass, Debbie Cederquist, Robert Harvilla, Sam Waghalter, Karen Lorenz, Stephen Grogan, Nancy Grogan and Karen Goldsmith cheered on both Gibble and the Dolphins.

Vandals strike at Dolphin Stadium
     Between sundown and sunrise Nov. 7-8, delinquents vandalized the track and stadium grass at Dolphin Stadium. According to one of the messages left on the track, the vandalism was in retaliation for unknown persons tearing down Navarre's 2006 district championship sign. The vandals also poked fun at the Dolphins' lack of a winning season this year, spelling season 'sason.' County workers pressure sprayed most of the graffiti off the track before Friday's game. 1972 Dolphins lose close one to Crestview
      The 1972 Dolphins closed out the season with a 13-6 loss to Crestview. Ken Johnson's two-yard pass to Dick Schwartz made it a 7-6 game before the Dolphins turned the ball over inside the Bulldog fiveyard line as the first half expired.

GBSA cheerleaders take second
     The GBSA mite cheerleaders took second in the Mount category at the recent Gulf Coast Youth Football Association Cheerleading Competition in Pace. They are (first row, from left): Brianne Landry, Natalie Turner, Madison DeMotts, Morgan Baker, Tina Owens, Meagan Allen and Poppy Sims. Smart soccer players
     Kate Begley (left) recently made the Conference USA's All Academic team. She's a defender for the University of Central Florida and the older sister of Kim Begley (right), who led the Lady Dolphins to the 2007 state championship game. The younger Begley's also the equipment manager for the UCF team.
