      We are on the first Annual T. Bubba Comedy Cruise. Why are you not with us? We are having fun, yeah! We left New Orleans Monday and we get back on Saturday. Me and Lishous have never been on a cruise. It is a hoot. This is a big boat and it even has its own barber shop!

      Santa Rosa Island Authority Executive Director Buck Lee wants to get right to the point, so he's planning to meet with Escambia County administrator, chairman and commissioners to ask them straight out if they will commit $10 million for a parking garage on Pensacola Beach.

Crews digging in on J. Earle Bowden Way
      The J. Earle Bowden Way reconstruction project is well underway and crews from Panhandle Grading and Paving are digging in. Weather permitting; workers are continuing efforts to remove damaged asphalt and remove sand from across the roadway. They will also continue placing sand in washed out sections.

Gimme shelter
     Workers are finalizing work on 21 picnic shelters at the public park near the entrance to Fort Pickens. Twenty-one charcoal grills will be installed, along with 21 galvanized trash cans.Work should be complete by the end of December.

New NOAA model links Mississippi River nutrient outflow to Florida red tides
      Anew NOAA research model indicates nutrients flowing from the Mississippi River may stimulate harmful algal blooms to grow on the continental shelf off the west coast of Florida. The peer-reviewed hypothesis is being published in a special issue on Florida red tide in the journal "Continental Shelf Research.

There is wonder to behold in every situation
      I love those words by Elizabeth Browning: "Earths crammed with heaven and every common bush afire with God, but only he who sees takes off his shoes; the rest sit round and pick blackberries." I interpret this to mean, in part, that life is filled with surprises which are often missed by our preoccupation with things that may be trivial.
