Lady Dolphin golf team state bound, boys' season ends
      The Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin golf team is hoping by the time they read this, they'll have made history. The Lady Dolphins are one of 16 complete teams that competed in the 1A state golf tournament Tuesday and Wednesday at the Ridgewood Lakes Golf & Country Club in Davenport, Fla., having won their region on Oct. 23 in Tallahassee with a team score of 315.

GBHS to send six swimmers to state
      The Gulf Breeze High swim team will be represented by five females and one male at Friday's 2A state swim meet at the Central Florida YMCA Aquatic Center in Orlando. Michala Nowak and Jacqueline St. Louis will be competing in four events, while Aileen Atzhorn is in three.

      The Gulf Breeze Dolphins, despite their 2-6 record are still in the thick of the District 1-3A playoff hunt. The Dolphins play at PHS Friday, while West Florida hosts Arnold - with tons of playoff possibilities.

Where has the time gone?
      As I sit here, putting the finishing touches on another issue of the Gulf Breeze News, the thought just hit me - I've been here for five years. A lot has happened since coming back to Gulf Breeze on Oct. 30, 2002 - Saddam Hussein was still in power, no one outside Illinois knew who the world Barack Obama was and Lindsay Lohan hadn't fallen off the wagon...yet.

Washington ends Lady Dolphins' season, four-peats as district champs
GBHS misses playoffs for only second time in last nine years; finish 12-8
      Washington, winners of the last three district volleyball championships, didn't like being the third seed too much. So they did something about it, beating second seed Gulf Breeze on Oct. 23, then beating top seed Navarre in the championship game Thursday in Gulf Breeze, winning both in four games.

     The GBHS girls cross country team won the annual EscaRosa Championships Satuirday in Pensacola.       While the Marines may be looking for a few good men, GBHS boys soccer coach Bruce Savage is looking for a few good goal scorers. Entering his ninth year as coach, Savage lost his leading scorer Cory Gibson to graduation.

GBHS rallies from two down to beat Niceville; Majewski scores three vs. FWB
      The Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin soccer team made coach Sharon Kerby's first match a memorable one as they rallied from a two goal deficit to beat Niceville 3-2 in a Preseason Classic Friday at Brosnaham Park. The matchup featured two state tournament teams from a year ago - Gulf Breeze the 4A state runners up and Niceville a 5A state semifinalist.

Gulf Breeze Juniors clinch playoff berth with double overtime win
White Mites, Mini Mites must survive shootouts to clinch playoff berths
      Taylor Busbee scored from a yard out on fourth and goal to give the Gulf Breeze Juniors a 12-9, double overtime win over Ensley Saturday in Pensacola. The touchdown came after the Chiefs kicked a 33-yard field goal (that could've easily gone 44) to make it a 9-6 game. The Chiefs missed on a 25-yard attempt that would have won the game in the first overtime.

'72 Dolphins follow first win with 7-7 tie to Baker
      A week after getting their first win of the season, the 1972 Dolphins tied Baker 7-7 this week. Baker missed a 25-yard field late in the game that would have won it. Kenny Johnson scored from a yard out, completing a 14-play drive that lasted more than eight minutes. The Gators answered with a second quarter score.
