GBHS splits pair in jamboree
      The Gulf Lady Dolphin volleyball team bounced back from a loss to Catholic to defeat Pace 23-25, 25-5, 15-12 Saturday in the Lady Dolphin Preseason Classic Saturday. A block by Jasmine Crowell tied game one with Catholic at 3. But the Lady Crusaders forced a sideout, then added three points on serve to take the lead.

Heading to nationals
     Love Hurts, a local 3.5 women's tennis team, recently won their local district, then regionals and sectional meets to qualify for the National 3.5 Tournament in Las Vegas. Four of the ladies - Heidi Wilkes, Michelle Covell, Jennie Barrow and Leeann Pugh - have won all their matches so far. The team has a 15-0 record through three rounds of play.

Dolphins, Bulldogs play to scoreless tie
Freshmen, JV overwhelmed by Crestview 42-0
      The Dolphins' Kickoff Classic was a learning experience for players and coaches alike. The ninth grade and junior varsity squads both played a quarter against Crestview's freshmen. They lost by a combined score of 42-0. "I was disappointed in our JV kids," coach Chris Nemith said.

     Aileen Atzhorn (above) competes in the 50 yard backstroke in the Short Pentathalon August 22 in Fort Walton. Information for the meet was unavailable at press time. Gulf Breeze will host the Dolphin Invitational Sept. 8 at The Club.

TP mini mites win two in preseason jamboree
TP Midgets, GBSA Blue Mini Mites, Blue Midgets, Juniors also win Saturday
      The Tiger Point Mini Mites finished the preseason with 3-0 record after posting wins over both Cantonment Maroon and Cantonment White. Nicky Myers scored three touchdowns on runs of 50 yards or more in a 19-6 win over Cantonment Maroon. Andrew Dorsey scored an extra point. Nico Ynostrosa scored on 35-yard run in a 6-0 win over Cantonment White.
