GB 9s win second straight district
Tiger Point 8s take third, eliminate Gulf Breeze in final at bat
      For the third consecutive weekend, the GBSA U9 All Stars were tournament champions, the most recent the Dizzy Dean District 1 title, beating Perdido 16-3 June 21 at Shoreline Park. The win clinched a berth in the state tournament for the U9s, which will also be at Shoreline Park. It was also the second straight year the U9s have won a district title.

      Sharon Kerby, a fourth grade teacher at West Navarre Intermediate School, became the new Lady Dolphin soccer coach Thursday.

Gulf Breeze golfers shining in summertime
Hicks, Dorsey, Ryals, Jordan all winners in June
      Sarah Hicks won her second tournament in as many weekends Sunday, winning the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour's Tiger Point Junior Classic. The GBHS freshman to be shot an opening round 89 Saturday and lowered that total by eight shots Sunday for a twoday total of 170.

      Sign up for soccer season, camp; support the troops Saturday at Tiger Point Park Signups for the upcoming Tiger Point soccer season will be Saturday, June 30 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Tiger Point Park. Signups for the Tiger Point Soccer Camp will also be held on Saturday. The camp is July 9-13 for kids ages eight through 14.

Dialing long distance
      Brett Pardonner (above, right) of the Gulf Breeze U8 All Stat team, homered in two games in last week's Dizzy Dean Tournament. He hit one, while teammate William Welch smacked two, in a 20-2 win over Brent June 20 and repeated the feat (below, left) in a 12-11 loss to Tiger Point National. Reddon McLaurine (below, right) also hit a homer in the game.

P'cola Beach hosts King Mack Tourney
     Jason Thompson/Gulf Breeze News Workin' hard Ten year old Zac Taylor hauls a 40-pound plus fish to the scales during Sunday's King Mack and Cobia Tournament. Taylor, along with his cousin Chris, earned the nickname 'Slime Boy' for all the work helping anglers haul their slimy catches back to the boats after being weighed. Look for complete results of the tournament in the July 5 issue of the Gulf Breeze News.
