Fish and Wildlife Commission offers public unique hunting opportunities
      The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering sportsmen some unique hunting opportunities for the coming season. The FWC is providing sportsmen mobility-impaired hunts, supervised youth hunts, family hunts, quail hunts and track vehicle and airboat hunts on wildlife management areas (WMAs).

FWC changes snook bag and size limits
      The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) approved changes to snook bag and size limits and harvest seasons during its recent meeting in Melbourne. New rules reduce the snook daily recreational bag limit from two fish per person to one on Florida's Atlantic Coast, which means a one-fish daily limit on snook will apply statewide.

Florida drought affecting area fish and wildlife
      The U.S. Drought Monitor has the entire area rated from "moderate drought" to "extreme" in South Florida. Water restrictions are in place for many parts of the state. In South Florida, a very dry 2006 (third driest on record for the state as a whole) and a dry beginning to 2007 had Lake Okeechobee at a record low of 8.89 feet on May 31. It should be at 13.23 feet.
