Original drummer Stewart Copeland has not quit The Police

Q: Whatever happened to Michael T. Weiss (from "The Pretender")? He played Jordan's brother in "Crossing Jordan," but I haven't really seen much of him lately. -- Joan K., Copperopolis, Calif.

A: Michael has been doing a lot of voiceover work, including animated series "The Justice League" and "Disney's the Legend of Tarzan," as well as voicing the role of the protagonist, The Nameless One, in the hit computer game "Planescape: Torment."

The 45-year-old actor, who got his break by playing Dr. Mike Horton on "Days of Our Lives," also has been a personal trainer, working with stars like Pierce Brosnan and James Brolin. Michael is an accomplished artist, working in many mediums, such as photography, ink, colored pencils, oils and digital manipulation. Q: My neighbor told me that my favorite actor had passed away, and I can't find out if it is true or not. Please help. His name is Richard Widmark. -- Jean S.,

Cathedral City,

Calif.

A: Widmark, who will turn 93 the day after Christmas, got his break in 1947, starring in the movie "Kiss of Death" as the maniacal villain, Tommy Udo. The Oscar-nominated actor has starred in dozens of movies since. He married writer Jean Hazlewood in 1942, and was with her until her death in 1997. In 1999, he married actress Susan Blanchard and resides with her in Roxbury, Conn.

Q: Is actress Evan Rachel Wood related to the late Natalie Wood and Lana Wood? -- H.F.W., Decatur, Ala.

A: Evan, who turns 20 in September and is romantically linked to shock-rocker Marilyn Manson, is not related to the talented Wood sisters. However, Evan is quickly making a name for herself. Since her breakout role in "Thirteen" and subsequent roles in "The Upside of Anger" and "Running With Scissors" (to name just two), she is rapidly becoming one of young Hollywood's must-see actresses. Look for her in September in the musical "Across the Universe" and in December in "In Bloom" with Uma Thurman.

Q: My friend told me that she heard that the drummer from the Police is quitting the band, even though they just started their U.S. tour. Please tell me this is not true! -- A Reader, via e-mail.

A: See now, this is how nasty rumors get started, so let's quash this one immediately. Stewart Copeland has not quit the Police. What your friend is probably referring to is his interview in early June where he laments the quality of their first few performances on the tour. After all, it has been a few decades since the trio has performed together. Copeland, along with Sting and Andy Summers, agree that there are a few kinks to work out, but they are in no way breaking up. Luckily, the lads have a good sense of humor and can laugh at their onstage mistakes.
