Area quartet helps North squad finish tournament undefeated
      The Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) annual All-Star Classic was held May 24-26 at the historic Firemen's Memorial Field in Sebring. The Florida panhandle was represented by all-stars selected and voted on by the area high school baseball coaches.

Gulf Breeze U11s take second at Evans Shootout
      The Gulf Breeze U11 travel basketball team ran into a bit of a roadblock in their first game of the Reggie Evans Southeast Jam basketball tournament at UWF on Memorial Day Weekend. Their first game was against the Louisiana Elite Warriors, a team from New Orleans who were the defending Louisiana state champions and the sixth ranked U11 team in the country, and lost 58-10.

      PSA Racquet Roundup concludes Friday Registration is now being held for the 30th Annual Racquet Round-Up tennis clinic. The clinic runs through Friday at Shoreline Park in Gulf Breeze. Completed registration forms can be dropped off at their respective locations, or players can register on the morning of the clinics.

GB 10s, 9s win Cinco de Mayo Tournament, 8-year-olds second
      A pair of Gulf Breeze teams won their age bracket at the recent Cinco de Mayo Tournament in Navarre. The 10-under All Stars won four to win the title, while the 9- under team bounced back from an opening round loss to win their division. The 8-under team lost to the Lynn Haven Longhorns in the championship game.

Cubs edge Cardinals in Tiger Point Rookie League action
      Stuart Harrigill's two out single scored Chase McDonald as the Cubs defeated the Cardinals 10-9 in Tiger Point 8- U action on May 12. McDonald had three hits and scored twice, while Hayden Essary had three hits and scored twice.

Karcher wins GBSA softball game
      Raleigh Hooks had two hits and scored twice, while Savannah Johnson scored three times as Karcher beat Spillers 15-7 in GBSA U-12 softball action May 7. Frances Harpole and Kayla Cayson both scored twice, while Alex Karcher and Anna Bailey both had two hits.

      More than a dozen GBSA and Tiger Point Rookie (8-under) and Minor League (10-under) teams played in the recent inaugural Dizzy Dean End of the Season Tournament at Shoreline Park. The following is a recap of how local rookie league teams fared in the first four days of the tournament May 18-21.

Pelicans conclude six-game homestand this weekend
      The Pensacola Pelicans conclude a three-game series with the Fort Worth Cats tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Pelican Park before hosting the Shreveport Sports in the first of three games Friday, also a 7:05 p.m. start. Each night, starting tonight, feature a special promotion. Tonight is Thirsty Thursday, with plenty of Budweiser on tap.
