No playoffs again for baseball team
Dolphins beat Escambia, lose to Pine Forest in district tournament in Gulf Breeze
      A season filled with high expectations ended like the previous 26 had for the Dolphins - on the outside looking in. The Dolphins, who had scored double digits runs in their final five regular season wins, were held to just two hits by Pine Forest's Justin Oehrle as the Eagles shut out the Dolphins 5-0 in a District 1-3A semifinal game April 25 in Gulf Breeze.

Bass 10th in shot put at state
      Gulf Breeze High sophomore Tobie Bass took 10th place in the shot put at Saturday's 2A state meet in Winter Park. Bass, who finished second at the regional meet with a throw of 35 feet 4.25 inches, threw a 33-8.5 at state. Dana Teschel tied her careerbest of five feet in the high jump, finishing in a tie for 14th.

      Bayside, TP rec soccer tryouts, registration at Tiger Point Park this month The Bayside Soccer Club, as well as Tiger Point's rec soccer program, is holding registrations this month for the 2007 season. For girls interested in playing for a Bayside team, tryouts are Monday May 21, and Wednesday May 23 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Tiger Point football OK with some, not with others
      Some Tiger Point residents are trying to make sure that their soccer programs don't get trampled this fall by football programs at Tiger Point Park. Parents, whose children faithfully play soccer year in and year out, are concerned that the addition of another sport could overwhelm the current facilities.

Cancun's wins Midseason Tournament
      Alison Milam threw a two-hitter and struck out 14 as Cancun's, a GBSA U-16 softball team, won the Northwest Florida Girls Softball Alliance's Midseason Tournament Thursday, defeating the Pace Red Sox 3-2 in the championship game at the Navarre Sports Complex.

Twelve foot mako shark? Good riddance
      I recently purchased a seafaring, sit-on-top kayak and I am glad there is one less 12- foot, toothed monster lurking just beneath the waves. A group of anglers recently caught and terminated a 12- foot, six-inch Mako Shark that was feeding on porpoises, or so the story goes.

Baynes homers as team wins in GBSA Rookie League
      Parker Baynes homered and scored three times as Baynes beat Owens 14-5 in GBSA Rookie League action April 16. Daniel Green, Benton Byrd, Noah Woods and Kyle Muldoon all had two hits and scored twice in the win, while Jake Weldon and Trey Owens had two hits and two runs scored for Owens.

Peek hit gets win for Red Sox in Tiger Point Major League action
      Garrett Peek's RBI single broke a 3-3 tie and gave the Red Sox a 6-5 win over the A's in Tiger Point Major League action April 23. Josh Hyland and Matt Kolokouris both went 2-for-2 and scored twice, while Landon Cagle and Xan Sarra both had two hits for the A's.
