      Calls and emails have been coming in to the Gulf Breeze News from concerned city residents who want to know why they are seeing BFItrucks, not recycling trucks, picking up the contents of their blue recycling bins.

Holley by the Sea board may be subject to recount election
      Board members of Holley by the Sea (HBTS) are awaiting word from a third-party arbitrator on whether or not they will continue leading the association. Last October, some homeowners in HBTS banned together in an effort to oust the current board because of questionable practices.

Sales tax renewal is topic of Town Hall meeting
      A Town Hall Meeting regarding the proposed renewal of the half cent sales tax to benefit the School District will be Monday, March 19 at 6 p.m. at the Holley Navarre Middle School Library. The event is sponsored by the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee. The public is invited.

Talking books offered free for eligible Florida residents
      Does someone you know have trouble reading print due to a visual, physical, or reading disability? If so, a free service from the Florida Division of Blind Services, Bureau of Braille and Talking Book Library Services can help! "Talking Books" are books and magazines on cassette that play on special equipment. Descriptive videos and DVDs are also available free of charge.

Habitat dedicates 501st home in Midway
      It's not every day that a vice president of a major non-profit corporation visits the Gulf Breeze area. On Thursday, March 8, Ken Meinert, who serves as Vice President of U.S. and Canadian Operations with Habitat for Humanity came to South Santa Rosa County for a very special occasion. The VP took time off from his busy schedule to dedicate the 501st home built by the local affiliate.

Arts Festival attracts over 100 fine artists
      Over 100 fine artists, including local artists and artists from all over the United States are scheduled to participate in the 13th Annual Gulf Breeze Celebrates the Arts festival Saturday and Sunday, March 24 and 25. Some artists who previously won awards are returning for the event, which will be held in the Gulf Breeze High School parking lot. Judge for the outside show is Sid Kamerman.

      The (EECT) Environmental Education Coordination Team with Cat Country 98.7 will host the 7th annual Sea grass Awareness Celebration in honor of Sea grass Awareness Month. This event features hands-on family orientated, environmental education. Gulf Breeze Hospital Auxiliary deals St. Patty's card party
      They're at it again making money for the hospital!! Don't forget that the Gulf Breeze Hospital Auxiliary will celebrate St. Patrick's Day with their annual card party and luncheon on March 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church. Attendees can play the game of their choice, such as board games or card games.

Judge calls for families to monitor children's use of MySpace site
      A federal judge in Texas ruled in favor of MySpace last week in a civil lawsuit brought by the family of a teen, "Julie Doe," who alleged she was sexually abused by someone she met on the site. "If anyone had a duty to protect Julie Doe, it was her parents, not MySpace," wrote judge Sam Sparks as he dismissed the case.
