Officials break ground on information center
      Ground was officially broken by several community leaders last week in Navarre Park for the new Santa Rosa County Tourist Information Center. Projected cost of the building is $1,049,750. The Center will also house the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce offices.

Engineers begin prep for Navarre Town Center
      The Navarre Town Center Plan is inching toward implementation. At their regular meeting Feb. 22, Santa Rosa County Commissioners recommended PBS&J, an international engineering firm, begin work on preliminary plans at a cost of approximately $110,700.

Sheriff to auction seized vehicles today
      The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office will be holding a public auction of its seized vehicles on Thursday, March 1, at 1 p.m. The auction will be held at Manheim's Pensacola Auto Auction at 401 West Burgess Road in Pensacola.

      Attorney General Bill McCollum cautioned parents about model and talent search agencies which promise children fame and fortune but may disguise significant fees often associated with the offers. The Attorney General's consumer advisory was issued in anticipation of an upcoming event advertised in the Tallahassee Area.

Gulf Breeze Pizza Hut opening this month
      Almost three years after Hurricane Ivan demolished the Tiger Point restaurant, the owners of the franchise are planning to open another Pizza Hut, this time in Gulf Breeze. Marvetta Hawk, spokesperson for the franchisee, said the restaurant will open in mid- March as a carryout and delivery store front.
