Lady Dolphins lose to Orlando Bishop Moore in 4A championship game
      FORT LAUDERDALE - The Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin soccer team got to hoist a trophy at the 4A state tournament Saturday - just not the one they wanted. The Lady Dolphins defeated Fort Myers Cypress Lake 3-1 in a 4A state semifinal game Friday at Lockhart Stadium, but lost to Orlando Bishop Moore 2- 1 in the championship game on Saturday. GBHS finished the season 24-5-3.

Dolphin soccer season ends in regional finals, 3-0
      The first of two Luis Rojas goals was all the Fernandina Beachg Pirates would need to clinch a Final Four berth Friday night. FBHS defeated the visiting Gulf Breeze Dolphins 3-0 in the Region 1-4A championship and will play at 5 p.m. Friday against Tampa Jesuit in the state semifinal in Fort Lauderdale.

Randel takes fourth at state
      Adrienne Randel set a personal best in the clean and jerk and tied her best overall weight lifted to finish with a fourth place finish at Saturday's state weightlifting meet in New Port Richey. Randel's fourth-place finish is the best in school history, as well as the first ever medal in the sport.

Dolphin trio ink football pacts
      Brad McGuire, Doug Baldwin and Cody Sharp would all agree that as seniors, their football season didn't go the way they wanted to. They also have something else in common - they like how it's ended. The trio were honored at a ceremony Feb. 7 at the Media Center to celebrate their recent signings to play college football.

Dolphin wrestlers compete at regional meet
Eight of 11 win at least one match
      Eleven members of the Dolphin wrestling team competed in the Region 1-A meet Saturday at Palm Coast Mantanzas High School. Eight of the 11 won at least one match, with four winning two. But none were able to place in the top four of their weight class to qualify for today's state meet in Lakeland.

Dolphins tie one, lose one in preseason baseball tournament
      Four and 2/3 innings of no hit ball from Greg Tober and a two run homer from Derek Jeter weren't enough to get the Dolphin baseball team a win Thursday night in the Preseason Classic against the West Florida Tech Jaguars. But it was enough to prevent a loss as the Dolphins tied the Jaguars 3-3.

Lady Dolphin softball team opens play this week
      Rob Simon hasn't had much time for rest lately. As an assistant coach on the Lady Dolphin soccer team, Simon got a trip to the state tournament. He's hoping with his new team - he's the head coach of the Lady Dolphin softball team - that he can eventually make a similiar trip with them.

GBHS' Hebert, Lott National Merit Scholarship finalists
      Two Gulf Breeze High School (GBHS) seniors were recently selected as National Merit Scholarship Finalists. Kyle Hebert and Johnathan Lott, both 18, were called out of class last week to receive their recognition as exceptional students. These outstanding students have each received a certificate of merit, informing them that they are finalists for the Merit Scholarship Award.
