Lady Dolphins maul Cats for 16th consecutive district crown
Robles scores twice in 5-0 win
      The Gulf Breeze girls soccer team looked to be in championship form Friday as they blasted Washington 5-0 in the District 1-4A championship game at Dolphin Stadium. The win marked the 16th consecutive district title for the Lady Dolphins (18-4-3), who will host Arnold in a Region 1- 4A quarterfinal match tonight at 7 p.m. Gulf Breeze defeated Arnold 4-0 in the regional quarterfinals a year ago.

Dolphins win at West Tech, snap five game losing streak
      Bryan Shreve scored 11 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter as the Dolphins beat West Florida 63-59 on Jan. 16, snapping a five-game losing streak. Brandon Creager's only two points of the game, free throws with 20 seconds left, sealed the win. Matt Patrick led the Dolphins (5-16) with 16 points.

McKie helps Bears to Super Bowl
      One of Gulf Breeze's own will be playing on one of the world's biggest sports stages in less than two weeks. Jason McKie, a 1998 Gulf Breeze High graduate, played an integral part in the Chicago Bears' 39-14 win over the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship game.

Tiger Point Park to start football in 2007
      The sounds of aluminum bats can always be heard on Saturdays during springtime at Tiger Point Park. But in the fall, a new sound will soon emerge - one of football pads. The Tiger Point Park Board voted in their December meeting to field three football teams for the 2007 season.

Lady Dolphins lose close ones to Escambia, West Florida Tech
      The Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin basketball team played two close games last week, losing one 45- 44 to Escambia on Jan. 15. The Lady Gators made a free throw with 1.3 seconds left for the game-winning point. Gulf Breeze had a chance after Escambia airballed the second shot, but couldn't get a shot off as time expired.

Three wrestlers place at Bay meet
      Three GBHS Dolphins wrestliers placed in the top four of their weight classes at the recent Bay High Inviational in Panama City. Josh Hurst took home second place in the 140 lb. weight class, Erich Reitz was third in the 152 lb. class and Josh Potesta was fourth in the 145 lb. class.

Lady Dolphins third at weightlifting meet
      The Lady Dolphin weightlifting team made its final preparations for Wednesday's sectional meet by placing third in a four team meet Jan. 17 in Milton. Navarre won the meet (73 points), followed by Milton (41), Gulf Breeze (35) and Pace (4). Farah Schmitt was the lone winner for Gulf Breeze, lifting a total of 270 pounds (125 lbs. bench press, 145 lbs. clean and jerk).

Dolphins tie Pace, beat Catholic to end regular season
      The Gulf Breeze Dolphin soccer team entered this week's District 1-4A Tournament off a tie to Pace and a win at Catholic. Dolphins 1, Pace 1 Gulf Breeze rallied to salvage a 1-1 tie with the Patriots for the second year in a row. The Patriots scored off a failed cleared corner kick late in the first half before Cory Gibson scored in the 55th minute. Leland Davis set up the goal.

U-13 Junior Pelican tryouts Jan. 28
      The Pensacola Pelicans Training Academy opened last week. The Academy is a state of the art baseball facility which may be used year round. Andrew Salvo, Director of Baseball Operations/Head Instructor, indicated the Academy was established so kids in the Pensacola area could have a friendly environment in which they could receive professional baseball training.
