Students mourn the loss of 'Ace,' Gulf Breeze High's K-9 officer
      On Jan. 5, the community lost the beloved K-9 officer, "Ace." Ace was with the Gulf Breeze Police Department for the past seven years, serving the past year with his handler Officer Mark Lyster assigned to Gulf Breeze High School as part of the School Resource Officer program.

GBHS Interact collects 2,000 cans for recent Caring and Sharing campaign
      A Thanksgiving food drive was held at Gulf Breeze High recently to contribute to the community's needy via Caring and Sharing. Over 2,000 items were collected by students. The drive was organized by the Interact Club and students were encouraged to bring in donations to their fifth period class only.

MODEL Mentoring Program helps out local children
      Children's Home Society of Florida MODEL Mentoring Program is a oneto one community-based mentoring program for children who have a parent incarcerated. They serve families in Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties. On December 9, the Hilton Garden Inn hosted and donated a Christmas party for the children that participate in the mentoring program.
