Celebrate King's legacy, build ramps for freedom
      As the Martin Luther King Jr. national holiday celebrates its 21st year, I cannot help recalling a quote from the man himself: "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" How fitting that on Jan. 15, we will celebrate not only Dr. King's life, but also his passion for service to others through the Martin Luther King Day of Service.

Pelosi Power may turn into distress call

      January 4, 2007 may be remembered as the date when Nancy Pelosi became queen for the day. There she was on network television. There she was on cable television. Surrounded by grandchildren. A baby in her arms. But, despite the warm-andcuddly photo op, Pelosi and crew were not celebrating motherhood, or even grandmotherhood. They were lauding and applauding power, pure and simple.
