The Dolphins lost their first match 72-9 to Niceville. Brandon Buchalter and Josh Potesta were the lone winners for Gulf Breeze. Buchalter, in the 130 lb. class, trailed 10-1 on points before winning on a pin. Potesta, in the 145 lb. class, won an 8-6 decision.

Josh Hurst (140) and Taylor Retherford (171) went into the third period before being pinned.

The Dolphins lost to Hayden 61-18 in their second match. Winners for the Dolphins were Erich Reitz (152) and Brandon Van Camp (215) on forfeits, while Cody Sharp (285) won the team’s lone match on a pin in the second period.

Hurst and Chad Colley (160) both lost their matches on decisions.

Van Camp had the only win for the Dolphins against Brusly, recording a third period pin. Again, Hurst and Colley both went the distance, but lost on decisions.

The Dolphins finished their match tied with South Walton tied at 36, but South Walton would win the match for recording the most takedowns and pins.

Winners for Gulf Breeze were Hurst (140 - forfeit), Potesta (first period pin), Reitz (by forfeit), Colley (first period pin), Retherford (171 - by forfeit) and Van Camp (by forfeit).

Jesse Parsons (189) drew the defending state champion in his match.

The Dolphins would win their last match of the day, defeating Bay 36-31.

Reitz recorded the only win on the mat for Gulf Breeze, recording a pin in only 17

seconds. Stephen Houser (119), LaBruce Miller (125), Buchalter, Parsons and Van Camp all won by forfeit.

Potesta and Colley lost decisions for the Dolphins, who will compete in the Bay High Invitational Jan. 6 in Panama City.
