GBHS in threeteam district for next two seasons

Christmas came a little early for the Gulf Breeze football team when the new district classifications came out last week.

Instead of five district opponents, as has been the case for several years, Gulf Breeze has only PHS and West Florida Tech in the new District 1-3A.

The main reason for the changes is the imminent closing of Woodham High School. With Pine Forest and Washington expected to take the bulk of former Woodham students, both the Eagles and Wildcats will jump from 1- 3A to 1-5A.

Escambia will join the two schools in District 1-5Afrom 1- 4A. The three schools were reassigned due to a 20-percent or greater increase or projected increase in student population.
