OSBAN

William Russell Osban, Bill to his family and friends, passed away on November 29. He was born in New Smyrna Beach, FLon July 3, 1921, where he lived until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1942, serving as a submariner during World War II.

Before leaving to join the war effort, he married Eunice Hoover of Lawrence, Kansas in 1943.

After returning from his tour of duty, Bill entered college and received a degree in mechanical engineering. After graduating he worked for Corning Glass Co. in Corning, NY and Harrodsburgh, Kentucky before settling in Gulf Breeze in 1957. He came here for the building and start up of American Cyanamids, later working for what is now Solutia. He retired from there to build and manage his own company, Mercury Machinery. He retired from there a few years ago; he and a partner also had a shop in Ft. Walton for several years.

Bill is survived by his wife, Eunice; two children: a son, Mark and his friend, Merry Jo Graham, of Jasper, Ark., and a daughter, Cheryl Layson and husband, John, of Jay; and a grandson, Michael Osban of Pensacola.

Bill was a long time member of the American Cancer Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Gulf Breeze Methodist Church.
