Gulf Breeze News hits the airwaves
BY BRADLEY “B.J.” DAVIS, JR. Gulf Breeze News bjdavis@gulfbreezenews.com

The Gulf Breeze News is expanding its service to the community and is hitting the airwaves with a television news show two days a week. The publication’s staff translates all the coverage from the pages of its award-winning community newspaper to its television show on the Gulf Coast Network (GCN) Mediacom channel 27. Since Nov. 28, the 30-minute show, which airs Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. and again on Sundays at 4:30 p.m., has featured the weeks’ top stories, sports, community events as well as interviews with area leaders and newsmakers.

“We try to give an overview of the content of the printed version, and encourage viewers of the TV show to pick up a copy of Gulf Breeze News or subscribe to get more information,” Lisa Newell, co-publisher, said. “We are also happy to introduce Gulf Breeze News to everyone in Mediacom’s local coverage area, which is the entire Santa Rosa County plus Pensacola Beach. This really helps our advertisers get the most bang for their buck in Northwest Florida.”

Gulf Breeze News direct mails the paper to subscribers throughout the greater Gulf Breeze area including the Midway and Tiger Point areas, Pensacola Beach, Gulf Breeze Proper, Pensacola and Navarre. Over 30 rack locations are available throughout South Santa Rosa County as well, but the Gulf Breeze News show is one more way to spread the word.

“It is very exciting to make the news of the greater Gulf Breeze area available in print, on the new TV show and on the web,” says co-publisher Vici Papajohn. “Our primary goal is

to inform the community of all that is happening, and this is one more way that we can accomplish that goal. We are very proud of the job our staff is doing and we so appreciate the assistance and guidance that Mediacom has given us. The first thing we learned was all that we did NOT know about television, and we know the show will improve every week!”

During each show, viewers will have the opportunity to hear of summary of news articles, hear in-depth interviews with newsmakers, and even get entertainment tips on how to spend their free time during the Splash! moment.
