On the Spot:
WHERE WE PUT PEOPLE "ON THE SPOT" TO ANSWER A QUESTION "ON THE SPOT."
By Franklin Hayes

"Teachers are preserving the future of our community and are deserving of all consideration for a meaningful raise. There's nothing wrong with merit, it's just very hard to work out the specifics. I wouldn't want to leave my merit up to the state." -C. Flack Logan Gulf Breeze
Do you think teachers should be given raises across the board or

based on merit?
I don't like the idea of merit pay. It's not a level playing field and there are not enough rules to cover everyone. Kindergarten teachers don't give the FCAT. What about music, art and ESE teachers?" -Linda Register Gulf Breeze
"I'd rather get them all across the board because they haven't come up with a good instrument to decide who gets merit pay and who doesn't. We all work our tails off." -Lynn Cacace Gulf Breeze
"Teachers need a raise all across the board. They're raising our children, our future, and they deserve it." -Heather Ballew Pensacola
