Island prepares for NCAA Fall Festival

The athletes are coming to Pensacola Beach, but many of them won't know it until they finish their quarter finals.

When they win, they'll join 800 other Division II athletes in the first ever NCAA Fall Festival, a venture of the NCAA and University of West Florida and the Pensacola Sports Association. The event will be Nov. 15-19.

Athletes will stay on the island in an Olympic-style athetic village, and be transported to events in men's field hockey, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball championships at different venues in Pensacola.

Opening and closing ceremonies and light social events are planned on Pensacola Beach.

Athletic events will be held at Brosnaham Park, UWF and the Equestrian Center in Pensacola.
