Assumption celebrations set
Everyone is invited to attend a ceremony at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, at the Cross on Pensacola Beach. The cross is on Pensacola Beach, about a mile from the light on the left side of Fort Pickens Road. When Hurricane Ivan came ashore on September 16, 2004, the sign identifying the cross was swept away. The Knights of Columbus, De Luna Assembly, have had a new sign constructed for the original site of the sign dedicated over 52 years ago. The Most Reverend Bishop Ricard will rededicate the sign and the Cross with the Knights of Columbus, De Luna Assembly, as the Honor Guard. Commissioner Tom Banjanin and Santa Rosa Island Authority Manager Buck Lee are scheduled to attend. Then, Our Lady of the Assumption Mission on Pensacola Beach will celebrate the Feast with a Mass at 6:30 p.m. followed by their annual shrimp boil in Hunt Hall hosted by the Our Lady Hospitality Commission. In addition to the Mass and Feast Dinner on August 15 at Our Lady, St. Ann Gulf Breeze will celebrate a Vigil Mass at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 14 and a Feast Day Mass at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15. For more information regarding this event or others, please call Our Lady Catholic Church at 9340222 or St. Ann Catholic Church at 932-2859. Our Lady of the Assumption is a mission of St. Ann Catholic Church, 100 Daniel Drive, Gulf Breeze. St Ann Catholic Church and Our Lady of the Assumption Mission together are a parish of over 2,000 persons serving the community in body, mind and spirit.
