Juror for the show is Scott Mueller, a fine art photographer best known for his alternative photography techniques using Polaroid films, which he manipulates to make impressionistic images. His main objective is for his images to have a painterly appeal and indeed many of his pictures have such a strong impressionistic impact that they seem to fuse the two mediums together. Mueller exhibits mainly in the Southeast at fine art festivals and galleries, has won numerous awards, and can be found on the web at www.scottmueller.artspan.com. Drop off dates for submissions are Saturday, July 29, 10 a.m. 4 p.m., and Sunday, July 30, 14 p.m. Works in all media are acceptable but no color of any kind. Artel is a not-for-profit educational gallery located at 505 South Adams Street in Seville Square and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vocalist Shelton serenades at Seville Aug. 3 Vocalist Holly Shelton, turning heads and winning hearts wherever she sings, will join Don Snowden's Big Band AllStars at the next Evenings in Olde Seville Square from 79:15 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 3. This concert is sponsored by Dr. Bill Spain Chiropractic Wellness and 1st Choice Home Improvements. The Big Band All-Stars will light up Seville Square with music ranging from the swing era to modern day, covering Glen Miller to Sting. Don Snowden, director of the Big Band All-Stars and regular performer at Evenings in Olde Seville Square, will be joined by his wife Holly Shelton and her spellbinding virtuosity that captivates everyone within earshot. Her stunning stage presence and enthralling voice promise a magical evening that will keep concertgoers on the dance floor all night long. Evenings in Olde Seville Square concerts continue throughout August with an exciting line up of artists, featuring a select medley of musical tastes. Lautier receives international MBA Erik Lautier has received a Master of Business Administration degree from INSEAD, an international MBA program in Fontainebleau, France. Lautier has taken a position as Director of Publications and Communications of the Cultural Care Au Pair Division at Education First, the world leader in international education, specializing in language learning, cultural exchanges, and academic preparation programs. The company has been in business for over 40 years and has offices in 65 c o u n t r i e s with headquarters in Boston, London, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Lautier will work at the Boston headquarters. Lautier is a 1990 honor graduate of Gulf Breeze High School and received a B. A. in Drama from Duke University, a Master's Degree in Opera, and a Master's Degree in Vocal Performance from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. He has toured with Disney's Beauty and the Beast, performed with Boston Lyric Opera and Aspen Music Festival and was the winner of the vocal competition at Aspen Music Festival. More recently he was vice president of Cat Cosmetics, a celebrity owned beauty products company. He is the son of Eloise Lautier de Varona of Gulf Breeze and the late Dr. Yves Lautier. Pensacola Plein Air Artists announces show The Pensacola Plein Air Artists are pleased to announce Plein Air 2006 to be held August 23 September 19 at The Wright Place, 80 East Wright Street, Pensacola. The invitation to the show with a photograph of one piece of plein air art by each member in the show is attached to this email. The group meets on Friday mornings to paint in the greater Pensacola Bay area. In addition, from time to time the group meets during the evening to capture sunsets and moonrises. Each painting is completed primarily on location. Members who will be exhibiting in this show are: Nina Fritz, Marge Hewitt, Marian Guthrie, Jean Harris, Jan Kurtz, Fred Myers, McKenzie Oerting, Kay Packwood, Rob Pallme, Paul Sherman, Hazel Shiell, Becky Stuart, Scotty Tagatz, Lyda Toy, Rhoda Warren, Bettye White, and Betty Woods. The show will be hung on the morning of Wednesday, August 23 from 9-11 a.m. A public reception will be Friday, August 25, 5-7 p.m., The church reception will be at 9:30 AM on Sunday, August 27. |
