Florida Association of Realtors offers $41,000 in scholarships For the sixth year, the Florida Association of Realtors is sponsoring its Scholarship/Essay Contest for High School Seniors. This allows individual students the opportunity to win up to $6,500 in scholarships. HOW TO ENTER: Students must write a typed, double-spaced essay (500 words or less) on the topic, "How Does a Realtor professional Benefit the Community?" DEADLINE: March 17, 2006. All essays accompanied by the Essay Cover Form, must be submitted to the Florida Association of Realtors, 7025 August National Drive, P.O. Box 725025, Orlando, FL 32872-5025. E L I G I B I L I T Y REQUIREMENTS: High School Seniors who live in the state of Florida and who plan to continue their education at a Florida college, university, technical school. Children of licensed real estate practitioners are NOT ELIGIBLE for entry; nor are children whose parents or guardians are employed by any local Realtor Board/Association or by the Florida Association of Realtors. Junior class soliciting funds for prom The junior class of Gulf Breeze High School is seeking donations for the prom, which is scheduled March 24. The prom committee raised $4,855 by bagging groceries, washing cars, selling homecoming t-shirts and spirit bracelets, but needs $2,000 more in donations to make the event an unforgettable one. Class officers for the junior class are Alli Mead, president; Kelly Clay, vice president; Aubrie Offerdahl, secretary/treasurer; Dax Powers, senator; Cheree Suttles, senator; Morgan Tibbs, senator; and Juliana Matthews, SAC representative. Alli Mead, 675 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf Breeze, FL 32563 GBHS Science Olympiad looking for old cell phones The Science Olympiad team is having an ongoing cell phone drive. If you have any cell phones that you no longer use, please donate them to the team. They will be recycled for use by others. Please clear out any sensitive information before submitting them. Phones can be dropped off at the high school; direct them to Susan Cundiff. If you have any questions, please call her at 916 4100. GBMS Science Olympiad seeking donations The Gulf Breeze Middle School's Science Olympiad team is soliciting for their upcoming trip to state and nationals. Nationals are at the University of Indiana this year. The squad could need as much as $10,000 from private donors. Please contact Judy Bradshaw at 529-6700 if you can help. The GBMS team is shooting for its eighth consecutive trip to nationals. GBHS literary mag in need of writers Anyone interested in working on the Literary Magazine please Ms. Faklis in room 417 as soon as possible. Art work, photography, short stories, essays, and/or poetry are all needed. Help is also needed with the design of the magazine. |
