Beachside Resort project moves closer to reality

A project that incorporates condominiums from the old Windjammer project on Pensacola Beach with new condo/hotel units on the Beachside Resort property moved closer to reality last Wednesday when the Santa Rosa Island Authority Committee agreed to put it on the agenda April 5.

The unnamed 19-story project will have 206 hotel units, 16 condo units, a ballroom and meeting rooms on a 4.12-acre lease on the south side of Via de Luna Drive.

Units range from 443 sq. ft. to 2,380 sq. ft. averaging 493.12 sq. ft. for 90 percent of the project.

Although the project plans for 391 parking spaces, parking the the core area of the beach is expected to be a sticking point, possibly addressed through the use of consideration fees.
