Dot Waldon celebrates 45 years with State Farm

Most marriages don’t last as long as Dot Waldon’s relationship with State Farm.
The insurance agent is celebrating his 45th year as a State Farm Agent. His twin brother, Tot, is also a State Farm agent in Paducah, Ky.
He began his career in Mayfield, Ky. on Feb. 1, 1962. In 1968 he went into district management where he served for 17 years. On January 1, 1985 he became the agent in Gulf Breeze. Waldon’s agency was one of the original occupants of Harbourtown Shopping Center, where it remains today.

In observance of National Arbor Day, this year the Driftwood Garden Club has planted an oak tree on the site of the South Santa Rosa Recreation Center. It is planted in honoring the outstanding work of the Boy Scouts of America in the Gulf Breeze area. The ceremony opened with the Presentation of Colors by members of Boy Scout Troops 104 and 417 and Cub Scout Sean Mulroy of Pack 11.
Welcoming remarks were made by Mrs. Brooks Hollenbeck, chairperson and the invocation was given by June Jernigan, pastor of Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church.
Mayor Lane Gilchrist commended the Driftwood Garden Club members for their civic contributions over many years and particularly by planting trees throughout the community. Mr. Ron Pulley, Director of Parks and Recreation echoed the mayor's appreciation. He told those present that with the help of the local Boy Scouts, the trail that Driftwood Garden Club had established many years ago was in good condition.
The presentation was given by Mrs. Mickey Merchant and accepted by Mr. Harrold Hatcher, Scout Master of Troop 104.
The Colors were retired and the Scouts helped plant the tree.
Director of Parks and Recreation is a year older
Ron Pulley, City of Gulf Breeze Director of Parks and Recreation, along with members of the city took a few minutes from their busy schedules to enjoy birthday cake and pizza at the South Santa Rosa Recreation Center on Thursday, Jan. 26 for Pulley’s birthday.
