Episcopal Women of St. Francis donate $2,500 to Good Samaritan Clinic

Episcopal Church Women of St. Francis of Assisi donate $2,500 to the Good Samaritan Clinic (GSC) for Dental Health Care. The Rev. Al Pruitt made the presentation to Fred and Shirley Cornett at the Good Samaritan Clinic on behalf of the ECW. Freida Palmer and Mari who chaired the successful Wine and Cheese/Silent Auction were there. The monies donated for to the GSC came from the proceeds of that event. Many members of the GSC Volunteer staff attended the presentation as well.

St. Francis graduates receive scholarships

Alan Butler, Misty Guess and Michael Drinkwater received the Jane Martin Memorial Scholarship. Father Al Pruitt, Rector, presented them with this award during the St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church Sunday service on August 27, 2006. All three recipients graduated from high school in June 2006 and are attending Pensacola Junior College this fall. The Jane Martin Memorial Scholarship is given in memory of Jane Martin, daughter of Lewis and Mary Martin. Jane was a student at Gulf Breeze High School at the time of her death in 1972.

'People 4 People' 5K charity run scheduled

Challenge your friends and co-workers to run or walk for charity at the upcoming People 4 People 5K Run, Walk and Pancake Breakfast scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 9 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 100 Daniel Drive, Gulf Breeze. Proceeds benefit local and international charities. Past proceeds have benefited Habitat for Humanity, mission in Chimbote, Peru, and hurricane recovery. This fun event is set along streets in Gulf Breeze beginning at St. Ann. Cost is $15 for early registration, $20 after September 7, $10 no t-shirt option. Children (age 12 and under) can register for $10 by September 7, $15 after. Fees include free child care by appointment, instant door prizes, complimentary post-race breakfast, and computer scoring of results.

Registration forms are available at St. Ann and other locations in Gulf Breeze: Bruno's, Starbuck's, The Club, the Gulf Breeze Recreation Center, and Gulf Breeze Aerobics and Fitness. Forms are available at both Pensacourt locations in Pensacola, and online registration is available at active.com for a small transaction fee. Groups 'blessing' area residents with food

"It's a Blessing" food, affiliate of Angel Food Ministries and a program of the Pensacola United Methodist Community Ministries announces a monthly food program open to everyone at a cost of only $25 per unit.


There is no limit to the number of units at $ 25 each that you may purchase. You pay for as many units as you want.. Each unit purchased entitles an individual to purchase the "special" boxes whose contents and prices change each month. The specials are restricted in that you MUST purchase a regular unit to obtain a special unit.

Food will be distributed September 23 between 8 and 9:30 a.m. All individuals who come to pick up a food unit may pay for October at that time. Participants must have your receipt in order to pick up units.

Location sites include:

. Navarre: United Methodist Church at 9474 Navarre Parkway. Pay and pick up, both at this location. Phone 939-2028

. Brownsville: Richards United Methodist Church 2600 W. Strong Street, Entrance on "U" Sign up. Sept. 5 and 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cash or EBT (Food stamp) cards only. This is the main distribution site.

Columbiettes host luncheon, fashion show

Aluncheon/fashion show will be hosted by the Columbiettes of St. Sylvester Catholic Church on Saturday, September 16 from 11:30 a.m. to l:30 p.m. The church is located at 6464 Gulf Breeze Pkwy., Gulf Breeze.

The event will feature ladies wear from Bon Worth Clothing Store of Ft. Walton Beach. Catering will be provided by Apple Market of Pensacola.

All tickets ($12) must be purchased by September 13th. Ticket availability and information may be obtained by contacting Ali at 939-8091. Tickets are also available after each Mass at the church,. No tickets will be sold at the door on the day of the luncheon. Proceeds will benefit Columbiettes' community services (such as the annual free Senior Bingo Bash).

Bring friends, neighbors, spouses, co-workers, etc. Everyone is invited to enjoy a delicious lunch, fabulous fashions (including Red Hat apparel) and a chance to win door prizes.
