     The Gulf Breeze Dolphin football team began their preparations for the 2006 season this week, looking to fill the gap left behind by graduating seniors. Approximately 100 potential players showed up for the junior varsity (JV) and varsity squads as the Dolphins look to take the new season head on.

Denmon promoted to varsity head coach
     At this time last year, Jarrod Denmon was finishing his sixth year of coaching in the West Palm Beach area. He now has his first ever varsity head coaching job, becoming the girls' varsity basketball coach of the Lady Dolphins last week.

     The Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin tennis team's quest for a return to the state tournament was foiled by Bay as the Lady Tornadoes defeated Gulf Breeze 6-1 in the regional finals April 21 in panama City.

     Paul Stefon/Gulf Breeze News Pelicans practicing on Dolphin Stadium fields Today and Friday, the Pensacola Pelicans can be seen practicing at the baseball field adjacent to Dolphin Stadium in Gulf Breeze. Players and coaches, including Gulf Breeze resident Kash Beauchamp, will be available for a meet and greet between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m. The Pelicans recently hired a new coach, Craig Bjornson, a professional pitching coach who previously worked for several prestigious organizations including the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals, and the Venezuelan Winter League. Opening day for the Pelicans will be one week from today, May 11, against the Lincoln Saltdogs.
