Lively fans 16; GB 4-0 in district
      Like many high school students, Ben Lively loves Fridays, for it’s the start of the weekend. He likes them for another reason, too – he pitches exceptionally well that day. With several scouts in attendance, Lively threw a onehitter and struck out a career-high 16 as he helped the Dolphins to an 8-1 win over PHS Friday.

Dolphin baseball to give away car
      Just in case a Catholic-Gulf Breeze game wasn’t enough reason to get you out to the ballpark, the GBHS Baseball Boosters have given you another one. The Booster Club will give away a 2010 Chevy Cobalt during the Dolphins’ annual rivalry game with the Crusaders. The car was donated by Pete Moore Chevrolet.

Lady Dolphins lose to Choctaw
      Choctaw took advantage of three walks and a two-run single to score five runs in the fifth inning of a 9-1 win Monday at Gulf Breeze. The win avenged an earlier loss to the Lady Dolphins, who lost their second district game of the season.

GB Quarterback Club already in high gear
      Spring football may not start for six weeks, but the Gulf Breeze High Quarterback Club is already in high gear, preparing for the upcoming season. Among the first events on the QBC’s calendar is the Spring Carnival, which runs March 30- April 3. Wristbands on Tuesday and Thursday are $13, with the cost on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday being $15 per person.

Girls track team takes fifth at Patriot Invitational
      The GBHS girls track team finished fifth out of 17 teams at the Pace Patriot Invitational Friday. The Lady Dolphins finished with 41.5 points, behind Pine Forest (138), Milton (75), West Florida (68) and Escambia (55).

Dolphins lifters beat Rocky Bayou
      The Gulf Breeze weightlifting team won its third straight meet to open the season with a 69-18 win over Rocky Bayou Monday in Gulf Breeze. Dolphin results were as follows: 119 lb. class - 2) Devin Jones 105 lbs. bench press, 95 lbs. clean and jerk - 200 total). 129 lb. class - 1) James Buckley (160/165 - 325), 2) Tre Ammon (135/140 - 275).

West Florida Volleyball Club fifth at Peachtree Classic
      The West Florida Volleyball Club’s U-18 team finished tied for fifth out of 16 teams in the 18’s Open Division in Peachtree Classic played at Emory University in Atlanta. “Jasmine Crowell and Sallie Papajohn were among our leaders in kills and Tristan Powers led in assists,” WBVC Director of Coaching Dennis Rosele said.
